Alpaca Herdsires

Although our females are an excellent foundation for our herd, our breeding program is intended to produce genetic improvements in every generation. To this end we have purchased a half-share in two remarkable alpaca herdsires: Silk of Peru and Peruvian Cosmos. We also have our own Malechi available for limited outside breedings in 2010.

Silk of Peru

alpaca herdsires - Silk of Peru

Silk has superior genetics with outstanding fleece and conformation and an exceptional disposition. His herdsire, Accoyo Snowmaster, is the first Peruvian import to be imported back into Peru to take his genetics back into the gene pool there.

His extremely fine fleece is being passed on to his offspring: They are exhibiting incredible crimp, density, brightness and staple length in their fleece. So far he is throwing the color of the dam, from white to dark brown.

If ultra fineness with top genetics is what you are breeding for then Silk of Peru has be what you need.

Silk has a wonderful disposition, we are able to put young males in with him without any problems.

His son, Eli, seems to be following in his footsteps with his fleece. Eli changed completely after he was sheared, it was such a relief to have that heavy coat off. Another of Silk's sons, Zeke, got his amazing fleece also; even his tail and legs were bright and crimped.

Call for a sample of Silk's fleece. His fiber is so thick that it is hard to part but as it came off you could see the incredible brightness and crimp and beautiful white color. The dirt does not get to his skin because of his density.

Stud fee: $1,000 *See details below

*We are accepting bookings for $1000 with $500 down - if you get a male you owe us nothing but if it is a female than the next $500 is due. Silk was sheared on Sun May 10th.

260 Peruvian Cosmos

alpaca herdsires - Peruvian Cosmos

We have also purchased a half-share in Peruvian Cosmos - a beautiful rose grey herdsire. We expect to have some great offspring on the ground next year from this boy, and we are looking forward to seeing what color combinations he produces.

Cosmos's sire is the famous Peruvian Jaxon and he carries on those genetics with outstanding conformation and presence.

A full-Peruvian with fabulous color and fineness and with grey tips that accent his deep maroon fleece. His crias carry on his beautiful color and fleece. If you are looking for color, this fine herdsire will add it to your herd.

Outside breedings are available on a limited basis.

Stud fee $1,500

Malechi

alpaca herdsires - Silk of Peru

Malechi is a medium silver grey in color with a white tuxedo - he has a beautiful crimp to his fleece, is well-covered with good staple length, good conformation and an even temperament.

Malechi's fleece is great - and as of right now Malechi is shaping up to be a great grey herdsire.

If you are just looking for a grey fiber animal rather than a herdsire you need to check out the color of his yarn!  And with a histogram in 2009 of 20.5 microns, he has great potential to throw good-looking, correct conformation crias with fine fleece.

Take advantage of the special introductory price we are offering for a limited number of breedings--as soon as these are taken, his fee will increase substantially to reflect his true value!

Stud fee: $400 *See details below

*This is a special introductory price for Malechi's first outside breeding season.
